Harmanpreet Singh will captain the Indian men's hockey team during the upcoming leg of the FIH Hockey Pro League in Europe.
Ace drag-flicker Harmanpreet Singh has been chosen to lead the Indian men's hockey team in the upcoming leg of the FIH Hockey Pro League in Europe. This will be the first assignment for newly-appointed coach Craig Fulton. The team is riding on their unbeaten record against Germany and Australia in the previous league matches, which allowed them to secure the top position in the points table.
During the European leg, the team aims to maintain their winning streak as they face tough opponents like Belgium and Great Britain in London, followed by matches against the Netherlands and Argentina in Eindhoven, the Netherlands.
The 24-member squad, announced on Monday, includes goalkeeper Krishan Bahadur Pathak, who returns after missing the home matches due to his wedding. Goalkeeper PR Sreejesh also features in the squad, while the defensive lineup comprises five penalty corner specialists, namely Harmanpreet, Amit Rohidas, Jarmanpreet Singh, Sanjay, and Mandeep Mor.
Notably, Manpreet Singh, who played a pivotal role in India's midfield, will be seen in a new position, joining India's backline along with Sumit and Gurinder Singh, who have also been named in the defensive lineup.
Vice-captain Hardik Singh will lead the midfield in the Indian men's hockey team, accompanied by Dilpreet Singh, Moirangthem Rabichandra Singh, Shamsher Singh, Akashdeep Singh, and Vivek Sagar Prasad.
The forward line welcomes the return of Simranjeet Singh, who last represented India at the Asia Cup Jakarta but had to cut short his participation due to injury. Joining him are a mix of experienced and young strikers, including Abhishek, Lalit Kumar Upadhyay, S Karthi, Gurjant Singh, Sukhjeet Singh, Raj Kumar Pal, and Mandeep Singh.
